Steward Generation: Stride’s Senior-Generation Peer Group
The Steward Generation Peer Group is the Stride Family Business Alliance group for the senior generation and current owners: the leaders carrying the weight of legacy, ownership, and the decisions that shape what they pass on. It gives owners a confidential room to work through ownership transitions, governance, and succession planning with peers facing the same decisions in their own family companies.
Who Steward Generation is for
Steward Generation is for owners, senior leaders, and senior-generation family members of Stride member families. Next-generation family members have their own group, Rising Gen.
How a Steward Generation meeting works
Meetings are held in person, often hosted at a member’s business with a tour and the host family’s story — how the business grew, the hard decisions along the way, and how leadership and ownership have changed hands. A facilitated peer conversation follows. Everything said in the room stays in the room: meetings are closed to non-members, discussions are not recorded or shared, and every member agrees to the Stride Code of Conduct.

Who leads it
Steward Generation is co-chaired by Jonathan Phillips of Phillips Hardware, who helps fellow senior-generation owners navigate legacy, ownership, and succession. Sessions are facilitated by Stride founder Jason Packer, a fourth-generation family business leader himself.
